TOUR MEETING PLACE

Although ships refer to your port-of-call as Icy Strait Point, that is actually the name of the dock area. The town of Hoonah itself is a short distance away.

When you book your whale watching tour with Whales of Xunaa, we will come pick you up in our van at the "tour excursions hub". It is THE designated pick up point at Icy Strait Point.

HOW TO FIND US

Once you exit your ship and walk up the gangway onto land, there are two different dock options your boat may have docked at, OLD(Ocean Landing Dock) or WLD (Wilderness Landing Dock).

Ships at OLD (Adventure Dock)

If your ship is docked at the Adventure Dock, proceed ashore to the Port of Icy Strait Adventure Center. Once inside the Adventure Center walk through the building and exit through door number “2”. This is clearly marked above the door. Once outside the door, look for the Excursion Hub sign(s). Follow the signs on the gravel path to the Excursion Hub. The total walking time is 6-8 minutes, please allow extra time if you are not a fast walker. We ask that you check in for your tour 15 minutes early since we leave on time.

Ships at WLD

If your ship is docked at the Wilderness Dock, exit the ship and walk up the dock and to the right.

  • Ride the Green Transporter Gondola(4 minute ride) to the Adventure Landing.
  • Exit the Gondola and go left, follow the signs down the gravel path 4 minutes to the Excursion Hub.
  • We ask that you check in for your tour 15 minutes early since we leave on time.
  • While the Gondola transports up to 2K guests per hour, please account for longer lines when the ship first arrives.

If your tour with us is midday and you are already in town sightseeing, shopping or visiting the brewery, we can grab you in town and go easily. Our location is the bright yellow house next to the brewery. (see photo above).

Some folks walk into town, a 20 minute seaside walk. Others take the ISP shuttle bus.

SHUTTLE BUS OPTION

The shuttle bus is at the staging area for the buses. Hoonah does not have a taxi service. A round trip ticket on the shuttle bus is a few dollars per person. Once you are on the shuttle bus, your destination will be a little under a mile and a half - you can't miss our location because the only stop the shuttle bus makes is right in front of our house, the easy-to-spot yellow house with the red roof next to the brewery.

The Icy Straight Point shuttle bus takes you right to our door.
